First meeting

Ruby was riding the elevator down with Parthe,  all the while talking about the guy she had been dating.

"He's cute but he has a wild vibe on him. I dig that."

"You must since you've been talking about this guy non stop..." Parthe laughed. "This is the same guy you met on the audience, right?"

"Yes, he's the lawyer that was representing the prick that I punched at the bar."

"Only you can broke a guy's nose, be sued for aggression and walk out of the audience declared innocent and with a hot date. You win at life, Ruby. "

"Thank you. I work hard for it."

It had been kind of a funny story. Ruby was at a bar, drinking, talking to friends and generally having harmless fun when this guy started to try to chat her up.

One thing you must know about Ruby is that she's an activist for women's rights since she was in high school. She went to Law School and became a lawyer to defend women victims of all sorts of abuse. She took martial arts classes since she was a child and now she taught a self defense class in a community center every weekend. No one messed with Ruby. Specially misogynistic assholes who thought themselves entitled to a woman's attention.

The guy didn't know how to take a hint and apparently believed that 'no' meant 'yes' and no one got really surprised when he ended the night holding a bloody broken nose, Ruby's fist being the responsible.

Another thing you must know about Ruby: she never misses an opportunity to teach a lesson.

And that's how she ended as her own representative in front of the prick, the Judge and the prick's cute lawyer. She knew she had won when her opening ended. She knew it had been a double win when the cute lawyer came to talk to her after the audience. The rest was story.

"Look, I have a picture of him on my phone." Said the blonde as the two friends walked out of the elevator, heading to the exit.

A girl passed by Ruby, about 20 years old, long brown hair and eyes, and bumped into her, making her drop the phone. She looked back and quickly retrieved the phone and handed it back to Ruby, apologizing profusely.

"Wait, hang on." Said the girl, taking the phone back and looking at the screen. "Fen...?"

"Hey, give me my phone back, please?"

"I'm sorry, it's just... Nevermind, here." She put the phone back on Ruby's hand and waved awkwardly, before turning around and heading for the elevator, a big smile on her face.

After the doors closed, Ruby turned to Parthe, a confused expression on her face.

"What the hell was that?"

"No idea, but I think she knows your boyfriend..."

"He's not my boyfriend."

"Yet."

"Whatever, Parthe. Let's eat, I'm hungry!"

Parthe laughed as Ruby practically dragged her out of the building.

-*-

"I think i just met Fen's secret girlfriend..."

"What? When?"

Hel walked to his brother's desk and hugged him, chuckling when the man picked her up for an instant.

"Just now, in the lobby. I bumped on this girl and she dropped her phone and I picked it up and there was a picture of Fen on the screen! All smiling and happy."

"But did you talked to her? How does she look like?"

"No, I didn't. She was on her way out with a friend, I assume. But she's blonde, with green eyes and kind of a cocky attitude?"

Jor raised an eyebrow. "Was she with a brunette? Like-" He sat and googled something, turning the monitor to her sister when the results showed up. "This. She was with this woman?"

"Yes! Do you know her?"

"Well," Jor pointed to the screen. "that is my boss, Ms. Parthenope Fox. An she just left for lunch with her best friend, Ruby Cassidy, 'lawyer, women's rights activist and general kickass', as she likes to introduce herself."

Hel laughed hard. "Seriously? She says that?"

"She does that." It was his turn to laugh. "I believe dating her will be one hell of a ride..."

"Fen better shape up, then. I can't believe he's hiding her from us."

Jor smiled. "I think he's hiding us, Hel. We're kind of a mess."

Hel shrugged. "If she's so badass, she can keep up."

"For Fen, I hope she does..."

"Yeah, me too."
